This purpose of this lesson is to create the *.php file that was called out in the previous lesson.  responseText The property of XMLHttpRequest will store the data displayed by the *.php script to the browser. The idea is to simply echo the current date.  This example, which creates serverDate.php assumes that this file is located in the same directory as the HTML file.

Example: <?php

echo date(“m-d-y”);

?>
